The Human Body

The human body pays tribute to the body we all have, but which can look, be perceived, be treated, feel and be used so differently.

My intention is to create a space where we see and relate to different types of bodies. Therefore, with the Human Body, I try to capture the individual's personality, by focusing on the individual's movements, form of expression and unique character traits.

In addition, I would like to show the general sculptural forms that all bodies have. One of the aims of the project is also to force the individual to reflect on himself. For what thoughts does the meeting with different types of bodies that one might not be used to seeing create? And does the meeting give you the opportunity to relate to your own body in a new light.

It’s an ongoing project.

Brynhildr has been at war with her body all her life.

She is fat and transgender, and throughout her life, she has tried in vain to conform to ideals of beauty that do not include her body.

When she moves out into society today, she has to deal with her identity time and time again, as she is met by people who do not understand her expression, and on the basis of her body and appearance, define her in ways that she cannot relate to.

Ciara is a dancer. The body and its movements are therefore central to her life. Ciara is happy with the way she can use her body to tell stories with dance. Ciara has minor insecurities about her body at times. For example, it could be her weight, which has always been very low, and the size of her breasts, but overall, Ciara is really happy with her body and always has been.

In 2009, Jonathan was struck by lightning during a football match. The then-professional footballer had been dead for 41 minutes. The lightning destroyed not only Jonathan's football career but also his physique and courage. It took time for him to get used to a new body that now had a disability, but today Jonathan is happy with his body. To him, it's just a body.
